Remed
ial therapy is used to remedy a specific problem or injury and may include one or a combination of the soft tissue techniques detailed below.
All of our treatments are targeted for the individual client and their presenting symptoms. Treatments will therefore differ between clients and may differ between treatments for the same client.
Typically a remedial therapy session will last between 45 – 90 minutes.

A remedial therapy session will always include a detailed medical history and assessment before any hands on work commences. If you have been referred to us by another health practitioner, please bring any relevant medical information with you to your initial consultation.
Below is a description of the techniques used in our remedial therapy sessions. Although each of the modalities described can be used as stand alone treatments in their own right, our remedial therapy sessions typically use a combination of these modalities depending on the individual and their presenting symptoms and medical history
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage uses specific techniques to identify and treat soft tissue problems where there is significant pain or loss of function and/or movement. This style of massage is designed for the treatment of specific short and long term pain/injuries rather than a general treatment.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is specifically tailored to help with pre event preparation, post event recovery, and sporting injuries. Sports massage uses a combination of massage and stretching techniques aimed at preventing injuries to muscles, tendons and ligaments, both before and after playing sport. While sports massage is used by professional sports people, it will not only benefit anyone who is physically active and seeking to get their muscles in peak condition it will also benefit anyone that exercises, even gentle exercise such as regular walking.
Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST)
NST is an advanced Bowen technique that originated from the work of Tom Bowen the founder of Bowen Therapy, it is an extremely effective soft tissue technique which can be used to treat a wide range of conditions. This treatment is suitable for all age groups from the very young to the elderly and can be safely used during pregnancy.
Finch Therapy
Finch Therapy is a non-invasive soft tissue (muscle) therapy that promotes optimal pelvic and spinal alignment without direct manipulation or mobilisation of the joints. Finch Therapys specialty is in the treatment of chronic musculoskeletal pain, injury prevention, optimal sporting performance and the maintenance of general well being. This is an oil free technique and can be conducted fully clothed
Manual Lymph Drainage
This is a gentle, manual technique that works with the lymphatic system. Manual Lymph Drainage can be utilized in the treatment of many different conditions and can be applied in situations where deeper more aggressive remedial techniques are contra-indicated. MLD is an important component of Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT) which is used for the treatment and management of primary and secondary lymphoedema.
Conditions which may respond well to a remedial therapy treatment can include:
- Neck and back pain including whiplash, lumbar, thoracic, pelvic,hip & sciatic
- Shoulder/elbow, wrist & hand problems, including frozen shoulder,carpal tunnel, tennis and golfers elbow
- Leg/knee/ankle and foot problems including plantar fasciitis
- General muscular aches and pains/spasms
- Accident & sporting injuries including corked thighs, hamstrings
- Arthritis and joint conditions
- Headaches including migraine
- Asthma and other respiratory conditions
- Digestive & intestinal conditions
- Stress and emotional conditions
- Menstrual, fertility and menopausal conditions
- Sinusitis & Tinitus
- Acute & chronic fatigue/Insomnia
- Vertigo/dizziness/Meniere’s disease
